About Us
The Clothes Exchange combines shopping and philanthropy in a rare win-win. Exchange Event organizers collect and sell quality clothing from well-dressed women and new clothing from generous retailers. The merchandise is all sorted, priced and sold at Clothes Exchange events. Profits from Exchange Events benefit nonprofit organizations whose work is dedicated to improving women's lives.
"What a terrific way to reinvent your wardrobe while supporting good community work. This is my most favorite fundraiser of the year."

Learn MoreOur Founder
It took Leslie Halperin, Founder of The Clothes Exchange a good long time to find her professional passion, and once she did, it didn’t surprise too many people to learn that it combined two of her favorite pastimes, shopping and helping people in need.
Our History
The Clothes Exchange was born in 2001, when a group of 15 fashion conscious, community minded women got together in Burlington, Vermont to swap the clothes they once loved, but rarely ever wore. At that first event, Leslie, the Founder of The Clothes Exchange, recognized the opportunity to turn the gathering into a force for social change. The child of entrepreneurs, Leslie quickly recognized the opportunity to turn the gathering into a revenue generator. A natural philanthropist, Leslie decided to donate the money to charity – and The Clothes Exchange was born.
