How it works
What to Donate
Remember, it's not about quantity, but quality. We are looking for new, lightly used and vintage quality clothes and accessories (bags, belts, hats, jewelry) that fashion conscious women would pay for. If you wouldn’t let your best friend wear it, we probably don’t want it.
Retailers are welcome to donate, returned items, slightly damaged goods and out of season garments and accessories. If you are a retailer and would like to donate merchandise, please let us know. We can work with you to develop a program that works for you. Some of our past retail partners have included Sweet Lady Jane, Tootsie’s, Isis, ECCO, Monelle, and Eileen Fisher.
We will not accept:
T-shirts, old jeans, and worn-out basics.
Men’s and children’s clothing
Underwear and swim suits
Clothes from “big box” retailers
Shoes

Simplify your wardrobe, for a good cause
Walk into any seasoned Clothes Exchange donor’s closet and you are sure to find a sturdy shopping bag, labeled, The Clothes Exchange, set up in the corner. The bag encourages frequent culling and paring down. Once yours is set up, add to it through out the year. Remember to only include quality items in good condition. Right before a Clothes Exchange event, go through your closet one more time and pick-out anything you have not worn in two years or longer; chances are you’ll never wear it again. You’ll be surprised how good it feels to simplify your wardrobe! Plus, we promise we’ll give your old favorites a good home and leverage their value to raise money to help women in need.
Drop-off Schedule
You can drop your clothes off at a designated Clothes Exchange Drop off Site. A schedule and more details will be posted here before the next Clothes Exchange. Check back or email us at theclothesexchange@gmail.com.
What happens at The Clothes Exchange?
Each Clothes Exchange event offers a unique, guilt-free, fun shopping experience. You’ll be greeted at the door by a volunteer who will provide you with a shopping bag and help you get oriented. Once you’ve got the lay of the land, you can have a glass of wine, chat with friends and shop for a good cause. Dressing rooms, with fans and full length mirrors are available, (although don’t be surprised to find women trying on clothes between the racks!). While browsing for bargains, you’ll find personal shoppers, makeover experts and plenty of fashionistas to help you find what you are looking for and to help you look great.
Clothes are restocked throughout the night, so no matter what time you get there, we are sure you’ll find something fabulous. All items are priced, but shoppers are encouraged to think of these prices as minimum donations – remembers it all for charity!
Once you’ve enjoyed some food and wine, checked-out out the featured (health, beauty and wellness) vendors and found that perfect skirt, head over to the check-out area where a volunteer will tally your goods and send you to a cashier.
It’s easy, fun and all for a good cause!
