Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children, located in Paterson, NJ, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting low-income families who strive to achieve economic independence by providing educational programs to equip mothers and their children with the skills they need to become self-sufficient.  

Oasis provides a “hand up, not a hand out” by offering free Adult Education Classes for women and After-School and Summer Camp programs for at-risk youth in the Paterson community.

Some of their other progams inlcude:

• The Nurturing Center for infant and toddler care
• A Food Pantry
• A Clothing Distribution Center 

Oasis is the only free resource for women and children in Paterson that comprehensively addresses health, nutirition, education, and childcare the needs of education, food, clothing, and children’s programming with open hearts, without judgment or restrictions, and completely free of charge.  Through the comprehensive approach of providing food, clothing, educational and children’s programming, opportunities for empowerment are created for women and children who have so few places to turn to for help.  These families have a real chance to acquire skills needed to break out of the cycle of poverty and dependence.
